Backlinks: understanding what you have before asking for more
Before any link building strategy makes sense, you need an honest picture of your current link profile. Most sites accumulate links over time through a mix of genuine editorial mentions, directory submissions, old campaigns, and links from domains that have since deteriorated in quality. Understanding what is actually in your profile is the starting point for any backlink work.
A backlink audit does not automatically mean a problem exists. Many profiles are fine. But the audit gives you the facts rather than assumptions, and identifies specifically which links, if any, might be suppressing rankings.
What we look at in a link audit
We extract your complete link profile from multiple data sources, classify each linking domain by quality and relevance, and identify patterns that might flag concern in Google's evaluation. Overly optimized anchor text distribution, links from clearly thin or irrelevant sites, large numbers of links from a single domain, and sudden link spikes are all documented.
Where a disavow file is warranted, we prepare one with detailed documentation so you understand exactly which links are being disavowed and why. We do not over-disavow, which can do more harm than the links being disavowed.
Competitive gap analysis
The audit also includes a comparison of your link profile against the top-ranking competitors for your primary target queries. This shows clearly where they have link advantage, which types of sites in your niche are linking to competitors but not to you, and which link acquisition approaches are most likely to be effective for your specific situation.
